Ukraine’s force in Donbass is estimated at 90,000 men — Donetsk militia

Most Ukrainian forces are on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Eduard Basurin noted

MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. The main battle of the special operation in Ukraine will be fought in Donbass, where the Ukrainian force is estimated at 90,000 men, the spokesman for the Donetsk people’s militia, Eduard Basurin, said on the Rossiya-1 television news channel on Friday.

"From Lugansk and along this [Donetsk] curve to the south, according to our intelligence and Ukraine’s own statements, there are about 90,000 men. It is a very large group. The main battle for eliminating Nazism in Ukraine will take place there," he said.

Basurin added that most Ukrainian forces were on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

"The group in the Lugansk republic is tiny," he added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24 launched a special operation in Ukraine in response to a request from the Donbass leaders for help. He stressed that Moscow had no plans for an occupation of Ukrainian territories, its sole aim being the country’s demilitarization and denazification.
