Russia unaware of any UN Security Council document on Iran — envoy

Malta's permanent representative to the UN Vanessa Frazier told reporters that so far only one country had expressed a desire to prepare a document on Iran

UNITED NATIONS, April 15. /TASS/. Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said he was not aware of any document being prepared by the UN Security Council on Iran in connection with Tehran's attack on Israeli military facilities.

"At the moment I am not aware of anything like that," he told reporters after a UN Security Council meeting convened in the wake of Iran's attack on Israeli military facilities.

Malta's permanent representative to the UN Vanessa Frazier told reporters that so far only one country had expressed a desire to prepare a document on Iran.

Nebenzya said earlier that certain Western countries had prevented the Security Council from adopting a draft press statement prepared by Russia condemning the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria.

Iran launched drones and missiles at Israel on the evening of April 13, calling it a response to numerous crimes, including an airstrike on the consular section of the country’s embassy in Damascus. The Israel Defense Forces said it had intercepted 99% of the Iranian projectiles that flew toward the country, with minor damage to the Nevatim air base.
