MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. Chairperson of Russia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) Ella Pamfilova has bestowed upon Russian President Vladimir Putin the official certificate signifying his election win.
"Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin], let me hand over to you the [presidential] certificate," she said during a meeting with Putin in the Kremlin.
Putin, in turn, thanked her for her work during the presidential election in March. "I would like to thank you and your colleagues, both in the Central Election Commission and in local commissions," Putin said. "I know that this was a difficult job, but it was very important for the country, for the state’s internal stability, especially today."
Presidential certificate
The presidential certificate is a 100x70mm maroon leather-bound booklet inscribed with the Russian emblem and the words "President of the Russian Federation" in gold on its cover.
Inside, the president’s full name and the dates of his term in office, as well as the CEC chair’s certifying signature can be found on the right side of the gatefold.
The left side features the Moscow Kremlin, the official residence of the president, and is inscribed with the word "Russia." A 3x4 cm color photo of the president is also shown here, as well as the date of his or her election. The presidential photo and the CEC chair’s signature are bound with holograms of the CEC’s official round seal.
Presidential poll results
The presidential election in Russia was held from March 15 through 17. According to the CEC official data, Putin won 87.28% of the vote. The election boasted the highest-ever voter turnout in Russia’s history - 77.44%.
Putin was followed by Nikolay Kharitonov, nominated by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, or CPRF (4.31%), Vladislav Davankov, the New People party’s nominee (3.85%), and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) Leonid Slutsky (3.2%).
Under Russian law, the president elect takes office six years after the office term of the previous president began. Putin was inaugurated to his current office term on May 7, 2018.
