Georgian protesters end rally in Tbilisi over foreign agents bill

Rustaveli Avenue has been opened for traffic

TBILISI, April 16. /TASS/. Protesters have ended a rally outside the parliament building in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi over the foreign agents bill, according to a TASS reporter.

Municipal maintenance services started cleaning Rustaveli Avenue and other streets near the parliament building. Rustaveli Avenue has been opened for traffic.

Protesters plan to reconvene on Tuesday. According to reports that have yet to be confirmed, that is when the bill will be put to a vote.

Earlier on Monday, several thousand people gathered at the entrance to the parliament as the legislature’s committee on legal issues considered and approved the bill in the first reading. There were occasional clashes with the police.
