WASHINGTON, April 11. /TASS/. The United States should refrain from irresponsible statements fraught with unpredictable escalation, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said.

"The US Administration needs to abandon irresponsible statements fraught with risks of unpredictable escalation. It is obvious that Zelensky's regime is in agony," he said, commenting on recent remarks, made by US Assistant Secretary of Defense Celeste Wallander and Commander of the US European Command Christophe Cavoli.

The embassy’s press service quoted the diplomat as saying that the US officials’ declared determination to inflict the strategic defeat on Russia and claims about Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea show that "local officials do not let up and incite frantic Kiev regime to new crimes." He added that "the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the civilian population are especially cynical."

"These facts are yet another confirmation of the involvement of the U.S. armed forces in a conflict thousands of kilometers away from America, a conflict that has a detrimental effect on Washington's prestige, power and influence on international security," Antonov said.
