Russian missile cruiser Varyag enters Mediterranean Sea

The ship's crew continues to fulfill the mission it was given for the long-range voyage

MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. The missile cruiser Varyag, the flagship of the Russian Pacific Fleet, has passed the Suez Canal and entered the Mediterranean Sea, the Eastern Military District said in a statement.

"The day before, the Varyag completed crossing the Red Sea, demonstrating the presence of the Russian Navy’s St. Andrew's flag in the region. In the Mediterranean Sea, the Pacific Fleet’s missile cruiser will operate in accordance with the fleet’s previously approved combat training plan," the statement said.

The ship's crew continues to fulfill the mission it was given for the long-range voyage.
