Moderate earthquake hits Papua New Guinea

SYDNEY, May 2. /TASS/. A magnitude 5.9 earthquake rocked Papua New Guinea, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

According to the EMSC, the epicenter was located 101 kilometers east of the city of Kimbe (New Britain Island) with a population of 18,800.

No casualties or damage were immediately reported.
